The world premiere of a new concerto for bassoon and orchestral winds, Reliable Sources, by composer Nico Muhly. Part of a consortium commission including 19 bassoonists and schools, the UofSC Wind Ensemble, led by Scott Weiss, and I are thrilled to give the first performance of this major new work (which we will also record the day following the concert). Among many other accomplishments, Muhly is the youngest composer to have been commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera, and is currently having his second opera produced there.
